This session was all about a pretty background with an even prettier one child family captued by Orange County leading photographer Stevie Cruz. Family pictures at Stevie Cruz Photography are typically done in serene natural areas around my studio in Anaheim Hills. I tend to choose open fields that are ‘off the beaten path’ so families can relax and be themselves rather than large busy parks.
One big blessing there is in being a photographer in Southern California is that I get to make great use of this sunshine we are always blessed with. You wouldn’t know it but, this night was a bit chilly and yet I was still able to capture the golden colors of the Southern California skys. Doesn’t it looks amazing in these pictures? It gives such a pretty glow to these families, and it really reflects and emphasizes the love we get to see this family holds for each other through the session.
Family interaction is easily my favorite part of family sessions. It is beyond special to have the honor of capturing and documenting these special relationships. I love being able to capture couples in love, and especially love capturing the love for their sweet children. As a mom, I know that love that we hold for our kids is like no other; it’s unconditional and so, so deep. It is so beautiful that in this session, you can see the adoration Mom and Dad have for their little. Look how precious she is, too! We love those smiling, giggly shots, but my personal favorites are the serious shots. I can’t get over this little one’s looks!
A major key to family sessions is coordination. Coordinating the outfits, colors, patterns, accessories, and props is everything. When the whole family is wearing colors and styles that compliment one another, it brings the whole session together. To make sure your photos are as pleasing to the eye and tied together as possible, my studio has some gorgeous dresses and sweet clothes for the littles to make the session that much more seamless. Being a One Child Family Photographer has benefits that I can focus on the single child and engage with them during the session. This family in particular has been photographing with our studio for over 4 years. We love seeing little G grow and change into a beautiful little girl.
